Den Studienteilnehmerinnen wurden unmittelbar vor der Behandlung die Haare in den Behandlungsbereichen rasiert, und das gesamte Makeup und die Lotionen wurden entfernt; eine Studienteilnehmerin wurde sowohl vor als auch nach den beiden Lasersitzungen einer Mikrodermabrasionsbehandlung unterzogen. Eine Studienteilnehmerin wurde einmal und alle anderen zweimal mit dem Laser behandelt, wobei die Behandlungssitzungen ungef\u00e4hr einen Monat auseinander lagen. In jeder Sitzung wurden die Studienteilnehmerinnen in einem Durchgang bei einer Fluenz von 21 bis 28\u00a0J\/cm2, einer Spotgr\u00f6\u00dfe von 6\u00a0mm behandelt, gefolgt von einem Durchgang bei einer Fluenz von 159 bis 223\u00a0J\/cm2 mit einer Spotgr\u00f6\u00dfe von 2\u00a0mm. K\u00fchlung, Gel oder Lotion wurde nicht verwendet; nach der Behandlung wurde eine Feuchtigkeitscreme aufgetragen. Alle Behandlungen wurden mit einem Nd:YAG-Laser mit einer Pulsdauer von 650\u00a0\u03bcs und einer Wellenl\u00e4nge von 1064\u00a0nm, NeoTM (Aerolase, Tarrytown, NY), durchgef\u00fchrt. Alle Studienteilnehmerinnen wurden gebeten, nach der letzten Behandlung ihre Zufriedenheit mit dem Verfahren auf einer Skala von \u201eniedrig\u201c, \u201em\u00e4\u00dfig\u201c, \u201ehoch\u201c oder \u201esehr hoch\u201c zu bewerten. Dies waren auch \u00e4ltere Patientinnen, die chronische Gelenk- und Muskelschmerzen in den H\u00e4nden aufwiesen und alle eine Behandlung an den H\u00e4nden erhielten.
